SUNDAY SELF CARE ROUTINE

Hey everyone, welcome back to The Dairy Free Diaries. Hope you guys are having a great day, week, month, etc. This week’s blog post is so exciting because I am going to share one of my favorite aspects of my wellness journey. That being, dedicating my Sundays to self-care

A TYPICAL SUNDAY IN MY LIFE

6:30am- wake up + drink a glass of lemon water

A large glass of iced lemon water is perfect first thing in the morning. On those days where I am so tempted to go right back to bed, I just start chugging my cold lemon water and it wakes me right up. I make sure to prep this the night before so that it is right within my reach.

6:45am- start my morning routine

If you want a more in-depth version of my morning routine, check out the blog post dedicated to my morning routine. But it consists of making my bed, doing breathing exercises, journaling, reading, and doing skincare.

7:30am- eat a snack + workout

My snacks usually vary put I try to get in some sort of protein or fat each time. Some ideas of pre-workout snacks I love are an over easy egg with toast, fruit and cashews, and ½ gomacro bar. These snacks are just to give me some fuel for the workout, not the morning.

As for my workouts, right now I have really been enjoying HIIT and lifting workouts, specifically from @rachelsgoodeats on Instagram. She has so many workout videos targeting different areas and for a variety of lengths.

8:30am- breakfast

Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day, so I go crazy with it on myself care day. I like to either do pancakes, French toast, or whatever I am feeling that day. And I always treat myself to a coffee, whether I make an iced coffee at home or go to Starbucks.

9am-12pm- work on any leftover tasks

I prefer to get the rest of my work done early so that I can relax and enjoy the rest of my self-care day. So, during this time, I will finish up any LSAT studying, laundry, blog work, etc. I take advantage of my “after workout energy” and put it to good use early in the day.

12pm- eat a veggie-filled lunch

This one is very specific, but for a good reason. Eating more veggies is something that I have been trying to incorporate into my daily lifestyle, so I added it to myself care Sunday for two reasons.

One of which being a goal of mine, and the second being that I always feel so much better afterwards. It makes me feel good and I really enjoy making a fancy lunch with sauteed veggies and other foods.

1pm- grocery shopping

I like to grocery shop on my rest day because for some reason I find it so relaxing. I like to put on a cute outfit and buy my goodies for the week. The day before, I planned my meals for the week and created my grocery list.

So, everything is prepped and ready, all I have to do is go to the store. While at the grocery store, I do like to treat myself to something not on my list. This could look like a new snack, a healthy juice (my favorite is watermelon lemon juice), something from the bakery, etc.

2pm-6pm- self-care + relaxation time

So, this is where my routine isn’t as structured with time. I have a list on my phone (which I will share later) that I choose from every self-care Sunday. This is my free time to do what makes me feel good and is relaxing. Here are the ideas that are in my phone:

Painting a picture outdoors

Drawing/doodling in my notepad

Practicing yoga

Taking pictures

Going on a shopping spree

Getting my nails or hair done

Going for a walk and listening to a podcast

Do a face mask or hair mask

6pm- meal prep + wine + dinner

This is such a relaxing end to my day because I absolutely love cooking; it is so therapeutic to me. I like to do this while listening to music or watching a show to make it a whole experience. I will usually open up a bottle of wine and have a glass while cooking to wind down and get ready for dinner.

8pm- night routine

I would love to more into depth about my night routine, so let me know if you guys would like another post dedicated to that. But to keep it short, I do my skincare, journal, read, and watch an episode of my favorite tv show. And by 9pm I try to be off my phone and in bed so that I can get enough sleep for the 5am wakeup that’s coming.
